Number 57 - A Fall Engagement!

NUMBER 57 - A FALL ENGAGEMENT!

Two of my best friends got engaged over the summer and this last weekend we hosted an Engagement party for them We started out with an adorable invitation from "event123" on http://www.etsy.com/.  From there the Fall theme was set!

The menu included:

- Mushroom Tapenade with goat cheese on toast points

- Chicken salad lettuce wraps

- An array of olives, sweet peppers, dried fruit, and nuts

- Vegtable crudite

- A delicious cheese selection with crackers, toast points, and fig jelly

- Corn muffins with fresh cranberries

- White chocolate bark with walnuts, apricots and cranberries

- Molassess cookies with orange sugar

- Pumpkin cupcakes with cream cheese frosting

The bar was simple with a healthy selection of red and white wines, sparkling citrus water, and a plethora of beers for the boys, including Sam Adams Octoberfest, Stella Artois, Woodchuck Hard Draft Cider, and Michelob Ultra for something a little lighter.

Decoration was easy with framed balck and white photos of the happy couple sprinkled around the room along with picture albums filled with classic photos of the soon to be bride and groom with their friends and family.  Kodak has made these basically fool proof (http://www.kodakgalleries.com/).  For even more of a personal touch, one of the hostesses even had M&Ms made with humorous pictures on the betrothed couple - a big hit with the groom!

Flowers were simple and easy.  I picked up several fall bunches while I was at the grocery store buying last minute provisions. We separated those out by colors and rearranged them, incorporating wheat to incorporate the Fall theme a little bit more.  I added a set of silk orange Chinese Lanterns I had from my living room and then filled clear glass canisters with white pumpkins, red apples, and harvest corn.  The room was instantly transformed.  As the sun set on the river it was the perfect canvas for a great night!

CONGRATULATIONS!
